Why We're Supporting Phil
Phil’s commitment to justice and ethics is part of his character. Englewood is his only agenda. Phil has real experience in civic affairs. It’s not enough to just talk the talk. He has demonstrated his commitment to Englewood by working on some of its most important boards. As a former member of the Mayor’s Financial Advisory Committee, the Planning Board and Board of Adjustment, he is truly cognizant of the issues facing Englewood residents.
There’s entirely too much friction in this town, too much divisiveness and mistrust. I think Phil’s just the person to lower the volume so we all get along. We may disagree on issues, but without civility and the ability to listen to all points of view, we won’t make much progress. We need Phil Meisner. He will be a voice for us all.
Phil is incredibly gracious, thoughtful and caring, and is someone who will really listen to residents. He will work very hard for the people of Englewood. He's in it for them. He listens more than he talks, which is rare in a politician. I saw him in action. I saw his attention to detail, his ability to synthesize complex issues into digestible information people can understand. He is very smart, he is ethical, he is trustworthy, he works really hard. The mayor of Englewood has to be a really good listener because that's who residents go to with their concerns. For me, to have leaders who are responsive to residents, who know how people live, who will listen to people and who understands what local government can and cannot do is very important. I think Phil is a great listener, a very thoughtful person, and he will be a very good colleague to the council members.
As a former Englewood Councilman, I had the opportunity to work with Phil Meisner. Phil is a man of integrity. He is extremely accessible and straightforward and will serve the interests of Englewood's diverse community.
When Mayor Frank Huttle announced he would not be seeking a fourth term, we, the undersigned members of the Englewood Municipal Democratic Committee, immediately knew that Phil Meisner was the person to replace him. During nearly two decades of civic involvement, Phil has demonstrated a work ethic, sense of fairness and devotion to our City that is beyond question or compare. Phil has shown an ability to listen to all sides of an issue, not just to those with whom he agrees. Phil will make a difference in Englewood and be a mayor we can all be proud of.
For these and many other reasons, we EMDC members, along with many of our colleagues, endorsed Phil Meisner to run on the Democratic Party line in the June 5th primary. We need a mayor who can lead, who can listen, and who can make things happen. We need Phil Meisner. This is why we stand with Phil Meisner now, and will be standing by him when he is elected the next mayor of Englewood. We urge you to join us in supporting Phil Meisner for mayor.
